Good News!

We have had some good news at our house and I still haven't stopped smiling yet! Around the 20th of January I got a call from the North Las Vegas Municipal Court about the court clerk position I applied for in March of 2008. It was a Marshall Investigator calling to ask if I was still interested in the position. Of course, I said YES! He then invited me to come in and pick up a packet from him to fill out.

Wow!!! I had no idea there would be such an extensive background check involved. The personal information part of the background check was 16 pages long ... besides the other 4 or 5 forms they wanted filled out. I was seriously contemplating bagging the whole thing because I was soooooooo overwhelmed with how much information they wanted. However, when I went to work Saturday morning at the Chevron and found out we nearly got robbed the night before, I suddenly found the motivation to fill out the novel of paperwork they wanted.

Well, needless to say, it took the better part of a week to fill out all the forms and get them back to the investigator. Then it took nearly five weeks for them to complete the background check. I was elated when I found out he was done with the background investigation and had forwarded the necessary paperwork to the HR Department to continue with the hiring process.

Next, I had to do the drug test and there's a funny story that goes along with that too. I didn't even think about having to go the next morning to do the ol' tinkle test and went out to the garage while Scott was spraying varithane clear coat on a wood table top he had been building. Suddenly I realized OH NOOOOOOOOO I shouldn't be breathing these fumes to go take my drug test tomorrow!! Thank goodness they didn't test for inhalants or I would've been done for. LOL

Anyway, I finally got the call yesterday and they formally offered me the job. So I will be starting a new job/career on Monday, March 30th!! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. =o)

Scott has begun his third year with the City of North Las Vegas in the Signs & Markings department and got an EXCELLENT review. We are both anxiously awaiting the raise on his check. He is also busy being the "pitching coach" again and shuttling Josalyn to and from practices and games.

Josalyn has started softball season for Valley High School and is once again the only pitcher for the JV team. I think she was kind of bummed that she didn't go up to Varsity this year but knows she is doing a good thing by keeping JV alive with her pitching. They just played in a tournament last weekend against some of the better teams in the district and did quite well for only practicing for about a week before the tournament.

Dylan has started taking drum lessons from one of Scott's former co-workers at the school district. He is a professional drummer and has wayyyyyyyy more patience than Dylan's mother. (giggle) Seriously though, he had to re-teach Dylan from square one since his band teacher didn't have time to teach them how to hold the sticks properly with such a big class. He wasn't too excited about starting from square one but he's moving right along and doing really well. I just hope Scott soon starts on the sound proof room to put the drum set in so we will be all ready when he gets the bright idea to buy one. LOL

Hopefully now that I won't be working two jobs and have no time off I will be able to keep the blog updated a little more often. I almost died when I looked at the date of the last update! I really had to idea it had been that long.

And on a special note to the Bellows Family and the Rasmussen Family, it would be REALLY GREAT if we could get permission to read your blogs again!!!!!!! We really miss seeing pictures of the kiddies and catching up on what's going on with you all. =oP
